Transport Chessie Caboose to Lee Hall Train Depot

The City of Newport News (the “City”) is seeking bids from qualified firms (the “Bidder” or “Contractor”) to furnish the goods and/or services described herein and bids will be received via the City’s e-Procurement Portal, OpenGov Procurement ( https://secure.procurenow.com/portal/nnva ), to be received no later than Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 2:30 pm (local prevailing time). The purpose of this Request for Quotes (RFQ) is to solicit quotes to furnish/provide transport Chessie Caboose from Ft. Eustis and place on track segment at Lee Hall Train Depot.. The Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism is seeking transportation of the Chessie Caboose from its current location at the Fort Eustis rail yard on Fort Eustis to its new location at the Lee Hall Train Depot by 4/1/2022. There are two options for transporting this caboose that are listed in the Scope of Work. The Contractor must have experience with these types of lifts and transports. The Contractor is required to provide all labor, equipment, materials, permits, escorts or any surcharges to move the 65,000 lb. caboose. The Contractor must be able to gain access onto the military base and all equipment will be subject to search. Lee Hall Train Depot is located at 9 Elmhurst St., Newport News, VA 23603.
