Culvert barrier assessment and stream mapping analysis

Solicitation #2023-RFQ-173. Issued by Procurement and Contract Division. Pierce County is seeking qualified individual firms or teams of firms (vendor or contractor) to complete culvert barrier assessments on county owned culverts, conduct stream mapping and water typing analysis throughout Pierce County. This will provide a comprehensive dataset for the Pierce County culvert inventory and fish passage prioritization strategy. The result of this RFQ will be the award of a Professional Services Agreement. Pierce County Planning and Public Works, Surface Water Management Division is undertaking a culvert barrier assessment on county owned culverts, conducting stream mapping and a water typing analysis in the eight sub-planning areas (SPAs). Project will require completing Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) Level A and/or Level B culvert barrier assessments on all county owned culverts that have not been evaluated since 1992. Estimated barriers needing assessment are estimated between 173 to 223 total. Project will include stream mapping and water typing analysis for fish presence within all eight SPAs. This project will provide the best available science on Pierce County managed culverts that will be the foundational data in the development of a Pierce County culvert inventory and fish passage prioritization strategy.
