HVAC chiller replacement with electrical and controls integration

Amendment 00001 Is temporary cooling required? There will be a temporary chiller, coordination when this needs to be removed for the permanent will need to be coordinated with CE. Is new electrical conductors required from the disconnect to the new unit.? Contractor to see SOW section 3 and 5. Is flexible weather resistant conduit approved for any electrical work need to be performed for the chiller replacement? All installs shall be per NEC and Local Code. The contractor shall submit the proposed raceway type and intended installation location for Government review before installation. Is a new wye strainer going to be required to prevent partials from the existing system from entering the new chiller? The contractor shall field verify whether a serviceable strainer is already installed upstream of the chiller and confirm the replacement chiller manufacturer’s filtration requirements. Is a new check valve going to be required at the new chiller? The contractor shall verify the existing piping arrangement and the manufacturer’s requirements for the dual VFD pump package. A check valve shall be provided if required to: Prevent reverse flow through the chiller Protect the integral pump package Prevent flow through an inactive chiller Maintain proper system hydraulic operation Comply with the manufacturer’s installation diagram If a new check valve is necessary, the contractor shall submit the proposed valve type, size, location, pressure rating, and pressure-drop information for Government review and written authorization. Does the base have a designated controls contractor they are currently working with? TekPlan Is the chiller currently on a BAS system ? Yes Is the chiller currently running just off of local controls? Yes, but will be integrated into the DDC system. Is there a certain percentage of glycol that needs to be blended into the system? The current system is not glycol. Before filling the new chiller, the contractor shall sample and test the existing chilled-water solution to determine whether glycol is present and document its existing concentration and condition. The contractor shall also review the replacement chiller manufacturer’s freeze-protection and water-quality requirements. Is the base going to assure that the chiller can isolated with having to drain the whole system? Contractor to field verify. If the base is going to require temporary cooling is there going to be chiller isolation valves added? Yes, Temporary chilling will be required as stated, isolation valves will be contractor responsibility to meet the requirements. Please see attachments for changes.
