Official description

Solicitation #26-640-IFB. Issued by Procurement. 1. Currently the New Design Water Treatment Plant (NDWTP) dewaters residuals from its treatment process of Potomac River water in the form of pressed residual "cake" utilizing a belt filter press. Two primary coagulants are used at the plant. Ferric Chloride is used primarily in the summer months otherwise Polyaluminum Chloride is used. It is estimated that the Water Treatment Plant will generate approximately twenty-one hundred (2,100) tons of pressed sludge per year. Percent solids average 20%. 2. The press is operated at various times on a seven-day per week basis as needed. The County averages two trailer loads per week. Trailers are backed in under the loading chute where dewatered residuals drop from a conveyor belt. Operators move the truck as needed to even the load. 3. There is on-site truck/trailer weighing equipment. The Contractor must utilize the scales located at the Treatment Plant to weigh trucks/trailers coming in empty and leaving full to determine the load weights for volumes hauled and for billing purposes. Pickup schedules shall be by mutual agreement; however, trailers must be emptied within 5 business days of being notified of ready status by NDWTP Staff or additional empty trailers must be provided to ensure continued plant operations. 4. Under this contract, the Contractor will provide at least two empty trailers to be loaded by NDWTP staff.
